Quaker to Spin Off Fisher-Price: Quaker Oats Co. announced plans to spin off its troubled Fisher-Price toy division to Quaker shareholders, leaving the parent company free to concentrate on its food business. Known for durable toys such as the Pull-A-Tune xylophone and the Little People farm, as well as baby furniture, Fisher-Price remains the world’s largest maker of infant and preschool toys. The division has been losing money and market share due to fierce competition and costly attempts to expand into toys for older children.
