New Hammer Museum Director Named: Occidental Petroleum Corp. has appointed former J. Paul Getty Museum director Stephen Garrett to head the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center. Garrett, an architect, would oversee completion of the museum, which is under construction in Westwood and is scheduled to open in November. A Delaware judge is expected to rule soon in a shareholder lawsuit opposing expenditure of $95 million in Occidental money for the Hammer museum, named for Occidenntal’s longtime chairman.
