Bellflower : City Employees to Vote Tuesday on Joining Union
- Share via
Blue-collar employees of the city of Bellflower, who months ago were approached by a union that offered to represent them on the job, will go to the polls Tuesday morning.
Pete Schnaufer, a representative of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, said the city and union officials have signed an agreement to hold an election to determine whether the employees want union representation.
“We are elated,” Schnaufer said. “We’ve got tremendous momentum and we are very confident.”
Schnaufer said 33 employees will be voting Tuesday. If the employees wanting union representation win, Schnaufer said the union is ready to go to the bargaining table Wednesday.
