PORT HUENEME : Woman Accused of Stabbing Boyfriend

A Port Hueneme woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stabbing her 27-year-old boyfriend in the chest with a 12-inch knife, police said.
Terry Rogers, 28, was arrested after police found Edward Furtado collapsed on the balcony of the couple’s home in the 2600 block of Sextant Avenue in Port Hueneme, said Sgt. Dennis Fitzgerald of the Port Hueneme Police Department.
Rogers told police that she acted in self-defense and was released pending further investigation, Fitzgerald said.
Furtado was in fair condition Thursday after he was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, a hospital spokesman said.
The couple had been arguing for about an hour when Rogers took a fillet knife from the kitchen and threatened to stab Furtado if he didn’t stop manhandling her, Fitzgerald said. When Furtado continued to choke and hit her, Rogers stabbed him with the knife, Fitzgerald said.
