Jefferies Trader Reportedly Warned: Roy Johnson, a trader with the Los Angeles brokerage Jefferies & Co., reportedly was sent a “target letter” from federal prosecutors indicating that he may face criminal charges. Neither Johnson nor Frank Baxter, president of Jefferies, could be reached for comment. Johnson was one of a group of about 15 junk bond specialists recently hired by Jefferies from Drexel Burnham Lambert. That investment firm is liquidating after pleading guilty to securities fraud.
