Suspected Gang Member Sentenced

A suspected Baldwin Park gang member was sentenced last week to 15 years to life in state prison for causing an auto accident in which his passenger, also a suspected gang member, was killed.
George Delatorre, 21, who denied that he was driving the car, was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 5 crash. He was sentenced Wednesday in Pomona Superior Court by Judge James Piatt.
Although prosecutors did not believe that Delatorre set out to harm his passenger, 18-year-old Conrad Franco, they argued that his reckless driving during a gang-related chase created the circumstances that led to Franco’s death.
