TAX BITE: So you think Orange County taxes are high? . . . Well consider that a typical 2,200-square-foot “executive” home in Newport Beach--valued at $551,600 (D1)--has an annual property tax of $6,895, according to Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Mission Viejo. . . . The same house on the south shore of Long Island in New York is valued at about $193,400 but pays taxes of $6,353--almost triple Newport’s rate.
