P.M. BRIEFING : Housing Completions Up 1.1%

WASHINGTON — Privately owned housing completions rose 1.1% in March to an annual rate of 1.37 million from 1.36 million in February, the government reported today.
March housing completions were 5.6% below their March, 1989, level, according to a joint release of the Commerce Department’s Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Housing completions dropped in the Northeast and in the Midwest but rose in the South and West.
