San Pedro 17, Gardena 5--Jose Espinoza went 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs, and Moises Valle was 2 for 2 with four RBIs to help the Pirates clinch third place in the Pacific League and a spot in the L.A. City 4-A playoffs.
San Pedro (14-9-1, 10-6-1) will open the playoffs Friday at North Valley League champion San Fernando. Pacific champion Banning is seeded fourth and will play host to Palisades, while runner-up Carson will visit West Valley League runner-up Chatsworth.
