SOUTHERN SECTION GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS : Los Alamitos’ Collins Wins Two Events

Ginger Collins of Los Alamitos High School won two events in the Southern Section individual gymnastics championships Saturday at Westlake High in Los Angeles.
Collins won the balance beam with a score of 9.7 and the floor exercise with a score 9.5. She finished second in the uneven parallel bars (9.4) and second in the all-around (37.2) to Crescenta Valley’s Wendy Cohen (37.25).
Other notable Orange County performers were:
--Leyla Caldwell of San Clemente who tied for second in the vault with Danika Vittitoe of Long Beach Wilson (8.9) and tied for fifth in the uneven bars with Rachel Pettitt of Capistrano Valley and Alisa Muir of Dana Hills (8.95).
--Nicole Woods of Dana Hills who finished fourth in the vault (8.85).
--Nicole Bell of Capistrano Valley who finished fourth in the uneven bars (9.25) and third in the balance beam (9.45).
