COLUMBIA, S.C. — A California-based evangelist may be the next owner of the defunct PTL ministry’s assets, including its satellite TV network and the Heritage USA Christian retreat, it was reported today.
The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer quoted unidentified sources as saying Morris Cerullo, 58, an Assemblies of God pastor who heads Worldwide Evangelism Inc. based in San Diego, has offered $52 million for PTL’s remaining assets.
Earlier this month, PTL bankruptcy trustee Dennis Shedd signed a contract to sell PTL’s television network to evangelist Oral Roberts for $6 million unless someone else agreed to buy all the assets as a package deal.
