WORLD IN BRIEF : SOVIET UNION : 170 Japanese Face Trial for Poaching

Soviet naval personnel on patrol boats arrested 170 Japanese fishermen in the North Pacific and charged them with “malicious poaching” of salmon. The Japanese were allegedly sailing under the North Korean flag on boats with North Koreans as officers.
