P.V. Estates Adopts Budget

The Palos Verdes Estates City Council this week adopted an $8.1-million operating budget and a $2.2-million capital improvement budget for the 1990-91 fiscal year.
Mayor James Nyman praised city officials for decreasing the operating budget by about $100,000 from the 1989-90 budget. “It shows what you can do when you have a good staff and a top-notch city manager,” Nyman told the council.
Nyman added that if it hadn’t been for a 14% increase in the city’s bill for fire protection provided by Los Angeles County, the budget decrease would have been greater. The city will pay $1.8 million for fire protection in the 1990-91 fiscal year, almost $220,000 more than during 1989-90.
