The City Council will review the city’s estimated $5.5-million budget this month.
The preliminary budget provided by City Manager James McRea includes capital expenditures, for which the exact amount is yet to be determined, and $3.5 million for operating expenses.
Of the proposed operating expenses, $1.1 million is slated for police, $223,736 for the city’s volunteer Fire Department, $440,106 for the Parks and Recreation Department and $329,924 for the library.
The council will choose among eight capital expenditure projects that include street improvements, water main replacements and central business district rehabilitation.
