Sunkist Growers Inc., upset with the Sun Devil Stadium turf for last January’s Fiesta Bowl game in Tempe, Ariz., wants a guarantee for better field conditions in its new contract, a Phoenix newspaper reported.
Sunkist officials said field conditions were poor for the Fiesta Bowl game between Nebraska and Florida State last New Year’s Day.
The Sun Devil Stadium turf, played on by both the Arizona State football team and the NFL’s Phoenix Cardinals, was essentially spray-painted sand, Sunkist claimed.
