Aluminum Co. of America: The Pittsburgh, Pa., firm known as Alcoa reported a second-quarter profit of $161.9 million, down from $285.2 million for the same period in 1989. Sales for the 1990 quarter were $2.69 billion, down from $2.76 billion in 1989. Earnings reflected a 24% drop in aluminum ingot prices, lower fabricated product activity and a large decrease in revenue from the company’s Brazilian affiliate as a result of that government’s economic policies.
