NATION : Man to Marry Adopted Daughter

MADISON, Wis. — A man has been given court permission to marry the 23-year-old woman he adopted two years ago because both were lonely.
Dane County Circuit Judge Michael Nowakowski on Monday granted an order that vacated the adoption order, allowing James Salt to marry Janette Caylor.
During the half-hour hearing on the case, the judge asked many questions of the couple to make “sure they understood the ramifications of what they wanted” the judge to do.
Salt, who is 45, testified that he adopted Caylor because both were lonely and that there was no romantic relationship between the two when the adoption occurred.
“(But) over the last several months, it has become apparent to each of us that we are in love in the romantic sense and desire to be husband and wife rather than father and daughter,” Salt said.
This will be Salt’s third marriage and the first for Caylor.
