OXNARD : Brother’s Van Pins Man Against Wall

A 64-year-old Oxnard man was seriously injured when he was accidentally pinned against a wall by a van his brother was driving, police said.
Arcadio Sanchez was listed in serious but stable condition Friday with two broken legs, a broken pelvis and internal injuries at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Oxnard Police Officer Jeff Shelton said.
Sanchez and his brother Eutimio, 64, were trying to park Eutimio’s van when the accident occurred in the 600 block of South A Street.
Arcadio Sanchez was guiding his brother, who was driving the van, into the parking stall between two pillars when Eutimio “crushed him” against the wall, Shelton said.
Eutimio Sanchez told police that the brakes on the van went out, but after investigating the van, police had another theory.
“We think he may have hit the gas instead of the brake,” Shelton said.
