From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A measure banning abortions except in cases of rape or incest or to save a pregnant woman’s life will be placed on the November general election ballot, the Oregon secretary of state’s office said in Salem. A citizens’ group collected 101,963 signatures to put the proposed constitutional amendment on the ballot. Also to be voted on is a proposal to change state statutes to require doctors to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor. Oregon decriminalized abortions in 1969.
