Christophe Tiozzo of France stopped American Paul Whittaker in the eighth round to defend his World Boxing Assn. super-middleweight title in Arles, France.
Referee Julio Cesar Alvarado stopped the fight midway through the eighth round after a crushing overhead left dazed Whittaker, sending him staggering backward with his hands at his sides.
