New Met Heads: The New York Metropolitan Opera Assn. announced a management restructuring Wednesday. Two new posts were created: Joseph Volpe as general director, the principal administrative officer of the Met, and Marilyn Shapiro as executive director/external affairs, in charge of fundraising and marketing. Both appointees were formerly assistant general managers at the Met. James Levine continues as music and artistic director.
