Ellen Breitman, director of education at Newport Harbor Art Museum, has been named acting head of the museum’s curatorial department. Breitman will serve in both roles until a new chief curator is appointed to replace Paul Schimmel, who left the museum early this year. Karin Schnell, associate director of education, will take on increased responsibilities in the interim. In her new post, Breitman will oversee the exhibition program and permanent collection.
