Arthur C. Martinez, formerly senior vice president at Batus Inc. in Louisville, Ky., and Philip B. Miller, formerly chairman and CEO of Marshall Field & Co. in Chicago, were named vice chairman at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. They also will be elected to Sak’s board. Martinez will be responsible for all financial and administrative functions, while Miller will be responsible for marketing, growth strategy and new ventures. Burton Tansky, Sak’s president and member of the board, will continue to be responsible for merchandising and store operations nationwide.
