Opening of Street to Spell Gridlock in Diamond Bar

Diamond Bar, the “Land of Country Living,” will be dead soon.
Less than two years ago, the residents of Diamond Bar voted for cityhood. At that time, many voters believed that local problems could be better dealt with under local control.
However, under local control, Diamond Bar has not improved. In fact, political infighting and jealousy among City Council members is so common and petty that even garbage disposal has become an explosive, seemingly unresolvable issue.
Thanks to negotiations by Diamond Bar’s first mayor and to a hard-working yet naive first City Council, Grand Avenue is scheduled to open through to Chino Hills in less than two weeks.
When Grand Avenue opens, Diamond Bar will experience a 500% increase in traffic. Soon the “Land of Country Living” will be replaced by the “Land of Eternal Gridlock,” and ironically, the City Council elected to protect Diamond Bar has negotiated to destroy it.
