Loy Vaught, the 13th player taken in the latest NBA draft, signed a reported $4-million, 4-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers today.
Vaught, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of the University of Michigan, was the second of two first-round picks by the Clippers in the draft.
They took Bo Kimble, the former Loyola Marymount star, with the No. 8 pick. Kimble remains unsigned.
“I’m very excited to be a Clipper,” Vaught said. “This team has so much talent and potential.”
“We’re very ecstatic to have him in training camp,” said Mike Schuler, the Clippers’ new coach. “It can be such a big advantage for a rookie.
“He’s a tremendous young man and we expect him to make a contribution right away.”
The Clippers open training camp Friday at nearby Cal Poly Pomona.
