Two-time defending champion Jimmy Connors and top-seeded Andres Gomez of Ecuador were beaten in the opening round of the Toulouse Grand Prix tennis tournament in France.
No. 6-seeded Ronald Agenor of Haiti defeated Connors, 6-4, 6-4, and Fabrice Santoro of France upset Gomez, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
