BLIMP HANGAR: As big as the Goodyear blimp seems, it’ll be dwarfed once inside its hangar at the Tustin Marine base. . . . Twin hangars were built there in 1942 for coastal patrol blimps, and each hangar can hold six. The floor is a football field wide, has an area equal to 5 1/2 football fields and is so long it takes 30 seconds to drive through at 25 m.p.h. The hangars are so tall they’ve held indoor hot-air balloon ascensions. . . . Both are national landmarks.
