Smith, Kieling Spark Crespi, 35-6

Junior quarterback Cody Smith completed seven of eight passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns as Crespi High rolled to a 35-6 victory over St. Bernard in a Mission League game Friday night at Pierce College.
The Celts amassed 344 yards in offense and kept the Vikings from scoring until 1 minute 9 seconds remained.
Ryan Kieling was on the receiving end of 75- and 34-yard scoring passes from Smith and returned a punt 68 yards for another score. Kieling, a senior, finished with three receptions for 112 yards. He has scored seven touchdowns this season.
Facing fourth and five at the 50-yard line in its first possession of the game, Crespi (5-1 overall, 2-0 in league play) gained 21 yards on a fake punt when punter Zach Rayner passed to Lance Thomas darting down the left sideline. Crespi scored four plays later on fullback Clint Cummings’ three-yard run.
Smith connected with Kieling on the Celts’ next possession for a 75-yard score and a 14-0 lead with 1:30 remaining in the first quarter. Crespi doubled its lead over the next 5:18 on consecutive possessions in the second quarter.
St. Bernard (1-4, 0-2) avoided a shutout when backup quarterback Al Obrero connected with Toussaint Moore on a 22-yard strike.
