Valley Metro Rail Sought
On Aug. 23, I was on tour of the Metro Blue Line. I was very impressed with the trains and their comfort and efficiency. The ride is very quiet and the only thing you can hear after getting off is a slight hum in the tracks as it leaves.
As I rode on it, I could not believe we don’t have it for the Valley.
They used existing rail lines. We also have rail lines right here. It boggles the mind that we have debated this issue for so long. We need the Blue Line now, not subways with our inconsistent water tables and gas pockets. This is not the time to reinvent the wheel.
There are always going to be the NIMBYs. Well, for the good of the majority, they are going to have to concede.
I was born and raised in Chicago, and never even owned a car until after I was married. In Chicago, the public transportation is great. You can travel anywhere in the city. The El trains are a fact of life there. I lived right across the street from the El in Oak Park, and there were a lot of lovely homes along the route.
If everyone would take the time to go for a ride on the Blue Line they could see for themselves that this is the most feasible way to go for the Valley.
