The Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay, which performs at the Norris Theatre for the Performing Arts in Rolling Hills Estates, will also play in Torrance and San Pedro during an expanded 1990-91 season.
The season opens Oct. 28 at the Norris with music by Mozart and Beethoven. Gerald Robbins, a Van Cliburn International Piano Competition winner, will be piano soloist.
In addition to four Norris concerts, the orchestra will perform Bach’s “Magnificat,” featuring the Jane Hardester Singers, on Dec. 9 in the South Bay Center for the Arts series at El Camino College in Torrance. The orchestra will also play March 2 in San Pedro at First Presbyterian Church, 731 S. Averill Ave.
Among highlights of the Norris performances are a Dec. 16 holiday concert, which includes Handel arias and the “Magnificat,” and a season finale April 20 called “An Evening in Spain.” All chamber orchestra concerts begin at 8 p.m., preceded by a talk at 7:15 p.m. Ticket information is available at 544-0403.
