Another effort by two limited partners to keep George Steinbrenner as general partner of the Yankees failed when a federal appeals court in Cincinnati dismissed their motion to block the resignation ordered by baseball Commissioner Fay Vincent.
Daniel McCarthy and Harold Bowman contended that the commissioner had conducted a biased investigation into Steinbrenner’s connection with gambler Howard Spira.
