Montebello : School Board Vacancy Will Be Filled by Appointment
- Share via
Montebello Unified School District officials have begun a search for a new board member to replace Art Chavez, who resigned two weeks ago after 12 years on the board.
Board members have decided to appoint a new member rather than hold a special election, which they said would be too costly. The appointment will be made at the Nov. 13 meeting, and the term of the appointed member will expire in November, 1991.
Potential applicants must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and a resident of the district. They must contact the district by Oct. 30.
Chavez had been a member of the board since 1978. He left the district to accept a managerial position with Del Monte Foods in Memphis, Tenn.
