America West Freezes Hiring: The Phoenix-based airline’s move follows a $22-million third-quarter loss. The airline has put a freeze on non-essential hiring and will leave 200 to 300 vacant positions unfilled until the outlook improves, a spokesman said.
America West has 14,000 employees nationwide. He said some flights will also be eliminated.
