Holdup Man Given Incentive to Call 911

TOLEDO, Ohio — A carryout-store owner turned the tables on a would-be holdup artist, making him report his own robbery, police said.
Investigators said Rodney Boyd, 32, pulled a gun Wednesday night on the owner of a food market and demanded cash. But when Boyd’s attention was diverted, owner Glashan Smidi pulled out a 9-millimeter handgun and ordered Boyd to drop his weapon, they reported.
Smidi then ordered the suspect to call the 911 emergency number and summon authorities to the Arlington Food Mart, they said. Boyd was in jail facing a charge of robbery.
