HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Thomas Guides Muir to Rout of Hoover, 48-7

Muir High quarterback Sedrick Thomas broke his school record by passing for 402 yards as the Mustangs routed Hoover, 48-7, in a Pacific League football game at Glendale High on Thursday.
Muir (6-3, 3-1 in league play) struck quickly against Hoover (2-6, 0-4) and never let up.
“It’s time to show everyone that we are still the Pacific League power of the past,” said Thomas, whose previous record was 369 yards.
On Muir’s first offensive play, Thomas hit receiver Saladin McCullough on a slant for a 68-yard touchdown. McCullough was the Mustangs’ leading receiver with 244 yards in six receptions.
Thomas opened the game by completing 13 consecutive passes. When the streak finally ended, at halftime, Muir was enjoying a 28-0 lead.
Hoover scored early in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Rene Gabri hit split end Chris Kalaleh with a seven-yard pass to make the score 35-7. Gabri completed 11 of 26 passes for 92 yards.
After Hoover’s touchdown, Muir add two scores. Linza Williams scored his third touchdown of the night on a one-yard run and he finished with 90 yards in five carries.
The Mustangs’ final score came with 43 seconds left when Reggie Reese dashed 23 yards for a touchdown.
Immediately after the game, Muir Coach John Tyree met with Hoover Coach Dennis Hughes and apologized for scoring so late in the game.
