Dare You To, runner-up in the American Pacing Classic final at Los Alamitos, has been established as the 2-1 second choice in the $273,458 Aged Horse Pace, one of eight Breeders Crown races tonight at Pompano Park in Pompano Beach, Fla. (5 p.m., PST, ESPN).
Dare You To, a 5-year-old son of Abercrombie, finished a neck behind T K’s Skipper in world-record time of 1:51 2/5 for an aged pacer on a five-eighths-mile track in the American Classic. T K’s Skipper suffered a foreleg tendon injury two weeks ago and will miss the Breeders Crown. Dare You To won a race on the Pompano five-eighths oval on Oct. 20 in 1:51 4/5, a track record, but finished fifth in a race there last Saturday.
Joseph Alflen of Redondo Beach owns Dare You To, who has earned $610,652. Jack Moiseyev will drive the horse from post No. 3. Topnotcher, the 9-5 favorite, will start from the outside post in the eight-horse field.
