Nordstrom to Halt U.S. Fur Sales: The Seattle-based department store chain said it will halt all sales of fur garments and close its fur salons across the United States by Feb. 1. The 63-store retail group denied that it made the decision in response to pressure from animal rights activists. “The reasons are purely business reasons. We’re simply seeing a declining demand for these products,” Nordstrom spokesman Chris Bridenbaugh said.
