Dominguez Hills Falls in Opener

Despite having five players score in double figures, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men’s basketball team lost its opener Saturday night to Grand Canyon University, 79-73, at Phoenix.
Grand Canyon held an 11-point lead with 3:51 left in the game, but Dominguez Hills cut the lead to 73-71 with 2:10 left. Grand Canyon outscored the Toros, 6-2, to secure the victory.
Michael Moore (18 points), Brian Jones (14), Ray Bennett (11), Albert Kiilehua (10) and Vincent Washington (10) led the Toros. Maurice Carter of Grand Canyon led all scorers with 24 points.
The teams combined for 53 fouls.
Dominguez Hills plays at Biola University Tuesday.
