CONCORD, N. H. — Dr. Constantine L. Hampers, a pioneer in dialysis treatment of kidney patients, has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in connection with trophies from a hunting trip in Mexico.
Hampers entered the pleas Monday, a day before his second trial was to begin in U.S. District Court. As part of the plea bargain, 13 related felony charges were dropped.
U.S. District Judge Shane Devine fined Hampers $20,000 and ordered him to donate $180,000 to the World Wildlife Fund and forfeit the mounted pelts of three ocelots and two jaguars.
