‘THE CENTRAL MYSTERY’

In her review of Anne Rice’s “The Witching Hour” (Nov. 18), Rita Mae Brown writes that “Renewal through destruction and regeneration through violence . . . is a concept repellent and alien to Christians, but something Hindus always have known.”
No doubt this will be news to Christians, for whom the torture, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus form the central mystery of the faith and have done so for two millennia.
