Loyola Women Win by 30 Points

The Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team evened its record at 3-3 Saturday with an 86-56 victory over Texas-El Paso at Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions appeared to be on their way to an easy victory when they pulled out to a 11-0 lead, but behind 19 first-half points from Holly Russ, UTEP tied the score, 21-21, and took several short leads. The score was tied, 29-29, at halftime.
In the second half, the Lions stretched a 58-54 lead to 76-56. Kristen Bruich led the second-half barrage with 19 points and finished with 26. Backcourt mate Lynn Flanagan scored 12 of her 17 points in the second half. Center Tricia Gibson also scored 17.
Bruich, who made five three-point shots, also had 11 assists as the Lions ran several perfect fast breaks to pull away.
Russ finished with 31 for UTEP (1-4).
