TUSTIN : Damage Found at Rawlings Reservoir

City employees who were surveying reservoirs recently found damage in a retaining wall at the 4.7-million-gallon Rawlings Reservoir.
The wall has moved away from the reservoir structure sometime in the past few weeks and the city staff is in the process of finding a consultant to study why the damage occurred and to redesign the wall, said Bob Ledendecker, Tustin’s director of public works.
The reservoir was built in the late 1950s and lies north of Foothill Boulevard and west of Newport Avenue.
Total failure of the Rawlings wall, which supports the reservoir structure, could result in water flowing into yards and down streets, Ledendecker said.
The replacement cost of the wall is estimated at $290,000.
