Abbott Laboratories: The Abbott Park, Ill.-based pharmaceuticals maker said its annual income jumped 12% to $966 million. Revenue was up 14% to $6.16 billion. Profits rose 11% to $280 million in the fourth quarter, and sales surged 17% to $1.71 billion. The company said new products and continued emphasis on cost containment were key reasons for the improved results.
