Song of a Lifetime: Singer Julio Iglesias testified Wednesday that his hit record “Hey” was the most important song of his life and denied that the melody was stolen. Iglesias took center stage in a New York City courtroom as he testified in a copyright infringement case that alleges the 1980 recording was copied from another composer’s work. “It is the song I hear every day and I sing every day of my life,” Iglesias said. The lawsuit was filed by Enrique Chia from Alabama, who claims “Hey” was copied from his 1978 song “Es.” The non-jury trial is being heard by U.S. District Judge John F. Keenan.
