Rubbermaid Sales Bounce Up

WOOSTER, Ohio — Rubbermaid Inc. today reported record annual earnings of $143.5 million, or $1.80 a share, in 1990, up 15% from $125 million, or $1.57 a share, in 1989.
Sales were a record $1.53 billion, up 6% from 1989, the company said.
Fourth-quarter earnings were $33 million, or 41 cents a share, up 15% from the 1989 period.
The fourth quarter represented the 40th consecutive quarter in which both sales and earnings increased over those of the previous year’s period.
“We are extremely pleased with the performance for the quarter and the total year,” Chairman Stanley Gault said. “The marketplace responded positively to our new and existing product offerings, merchandising and promotional programs.”
