WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Fullerton Beats Long Beach

Genia Miller scored 39 points and took down 12 rebounds, and Cal State Fullerton took advantage of 16-for-22 free-throw shooting in beating Cal State Long Beach, 75-63, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game before 648 at Fullerton.
Miller also blocked five shots in leading a Titan defense that held Long Beach to 37.8% shooting.
Fullerton, 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference, got 13 points from Joey Ray and 11 from Claudette Jackson.
Long Beach (8-6, 3-2), which is 24th-ranked, shot only nine free throws, hitting six, and was outrebounded, 45-38. The 49ers got 15 points from Kari Parriott and 10 from Kellie Bennett.
They struggled in the first half, shooting only 34.3% but trailed only 27-25 at halftime. Then Fullerton got hot, hitting 57.1% of its second-half shots.
