The UCLA athletic department is expected to announce today that men’s and women’s crew will be eliminated, in addition to water polo, bringing to three the number of teams to be dropped because of budget problems.
School officials declined comment Thursday, saying a statement will be released today. It is believed UCLA has a $3-million deficit in the athletic department.
The men’s crew won the Pacific 10 Conference title three of the last four years. The Bruin women are the defending champions.
