Promus Companies Inc., Memphis, Tenn., named Philip G. Satre president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Michael Rose as president. Rose will remain chairman and chief executive of the corporation, which operates four casino and hotel companies. Satre, 41, joined the company in 1980 as vice president, general counsel and secretary of Harrah’s. He has also served as corporate senior vice president and president of the Gaming group. Promus operates Harrah’s, which has properties in all five major U. S. casino gaming markets, plus Embassy Suites hotels, Hampton Inn hotels and Homewood Suites.
