LAGUNA NIGUEL : Decomposed Body Found in Car Trunk
- Share via
A shopper at a local Home Club smelled a stench coming from a car in the parking lot Friday, leading to the discovery of a badly decomposed body in the trunk, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Officials in the coroner’s office are to perform an autopsy on the body today to try to determine the corpse’s identity and cause of death. “The body’s pretty well decomposed,” sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
A shopper parked in the lot outside the Home Club at 27401 La Paz Road at 11:17 a.m. and noticed a foul smell from a nearby car, Olson said.
The shopper notified Home Club security guards, who called sheriff’s deputies. A locksmith pried the trunk open.
