Micropolis Corp.: The maker of small high-performance disk drives said its net income totaled $6.1 million in the first quarter, contrasted with a $1.1-million loss in the year-ago period. Revenue jumped 36% to $103.6 million. The Chatsworth company attributed the results to increased shipments of its higher-capacity disk drives and a $1.1-million premium dividend from its insurance carrier because of significant improvement in its health claims for fiscal year 1990.
